It is a late summer’s day in August. You are lying on a quilted blanket in a field somewhere undisturbed. You feel the surrounding grass gently stroking your bare feet. Above you, the sun is placing itself as a comforting warm hug around you, but the occasional breeze makes it bearable. You feel at peace. This is the place I go to when I listen to Tsharna.

It was a wonderful, yet disturbing discovery. A voice filled with so much sultry, passion and talent going somewhat unnoticed? A voice that fits right in alongside other legendary r&b voices like Summer Walker, Kiana Ledè and Victoria Monèt. She has had some plays on BBC 1Xtra and other radioshows, but I can’t stop asking myself why her career hasn’t taken off like other rising UK artists like RAYE, Flo and Mahalia?

It’s been a year and a half since she released her EP “About That Time”. If you ask me, it’s been about that time for a while now. The track that stands out to me is the ridiculously catchy “Insane”. Produced and co-written by Solikeys. It’s not easy to blend harmonies as effortlessly as she does, and while some people have to spend hours in the booth trying to achieve exactly that, others are blessed with a gift.

Many smart choices were made in regard to the production. A simple production at first glance might not be as simple as it seems. Prioritising space for the vocal and harmonies on the production-track will always be a winner when it comes to genres like r&b and soul. “Insane” is built up by keys, electronic drums and gets accompanied by what seems like a soft bass in every pre-chorus and chorus. A flow that is not trying to steal attention from the main event; her voice. It’s just the cherry on top.

163 monthly listeners. 163 brilliant people (me included). 163 people in desperate need for more. Unfortunately, based off her social media accounts, I’m not getting a sense of any releases in the near future.

Hopefully I'm wrong.
