almost monday is unlike any other California pop band I’ve come across in a while. Since releasing their first single parking lot view in 2020, they have gone and released a whooping three EPs and 1 album alongside many other successful singles. A band that officially formed in college between friends Dawson, Cole and Luke quickly became what the world needed as the pandemic unfolded.

They have kept their sun-kissed sound going ever since day one, from starting off with playing gigs in the back of surf shops to currently touring the world with The Driver Era. During all those years of growing, both as a band as well as individuals, they managed to maintain their signature sound that got us all hooked in the first place. When listening through their strong discography one song at a time, I can’t help but hear a bit of Arctic Monkeys, Dominic Fike and The Vamps hiding somewhere in there. On paper, almost monday shares striking similarities with lots of other bands, which makes you wonder how they are going to stand out in such a competitive industry. Fear not! Because these guys are nothing like the rest. Additional to their catchy songwriting, they are also astonishing performers. Not just the lead singer, Dawson, but the entire band. At the Hammersmith Apollo, where I was lucky enough to be in the crowd as they opened for The Driver Era, they put on a show like they were the headliners, and that’s how you win over a crowd.

Circling back to the lead singer, Dawson, he truly was the cherry on top. He was charming and witty on stage, and maintained a certain mystery to him as he kept his sunglasses on during the entire set. As I was standing in the crowd, “you look so good” blasting through the speakers, I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation between two girls to my right. They were discussing how badly they needed the lead singer to remove his glasses, so they could see what his eyes looked like. They were mesmerised by him and it seemed that everything he did, left them wanting more. Then it hit me. Concerts are where the what ifs and the could'ves exist more than ever. As silly as it sounds, I get it. Probably more than I’d like to admit. We all know about the fantasy of the guy on stage falling in love with the girl he spots in the crowd. As much as we try to hide it, we all have a secret wish to be the chosen one in a sea of people.

almost monday released their debut album “DIVE” on September 25th and shortly after announced their upcoming DIVE world tour hitting everywhere from Asia to the U.S to Europe. You already know you will find me standing in the crowd in London for another round of almost monday.
